The 2012 Owl Necklace

Owls were everywhere in 2012, especially on jewelery! The most iconic of course, was this particular style owl necklace, on a long chain. In my teen years, right before I converted to exclusively wearing soft grunge Tumblr style chokers to school every day, I was always seen wearing one of my favorite long necklaces that I had probably bought from Forever 21 or H&M. My owl necklace was my most worn. I have not seen that necklace in about a decade and I had really been missing it, so I recently bought a new (secondhand) one from Mercari! Over the past couple years I've been rebuilding a collection of long necklaces, and I'm so happy I finally got a new owl necklace. I also have a matching ring that I bought last year!

The actual owl necklace I had back then looked exactly like this one below, I bought it from Wet Seal.

It wasn't the only piece of owl jewelry I had in middle/high school. I had at least 3 different necklaces and 2 rings. I was obsessed.

While browsing Mercari, I also came across a peacock necklace that is identical to one that I used to wear back then. I loved peacocks too, and wore plenty of peacock feather necklaces and earrings. I'm thinking this might be my next necklace purchase so I can finally be reunited with it after all these years.


This one isn't on theme with the bird necklaces in this post, but I just feel like mentioning it anyway. Here's my robot necklace! Also on a long chain, of course.

I wanted to do a quick post about what I wore the other day when I went to New York to see a taping of Late Night With Seth Meyers. OOTD: First Day of Spring in Philly

  As the title suggests, this OOTD is from about a month ago. When it comes to the warmer half of the year, I am the opposite of most people. It makes me miserable. I always dread the day the clocks jump forward an hour. It affects my mood so negatively, exactly how others might feel during a cold, dark winter. I prefer that cold, dark winter so much more than warm sunny days. When spring comes around, I mourn the coziness I felt since the early sunsets began that past September. As an attempt to make myself feel better about the end of my favorite half of the year, I decided to put on a cute outfit and take the bus into Philadelphia for the day.  I wanted to make sure I wore something simple but still stylish and cool.
